I was asked to make a cube puzzle for a Private Tutor to use with groups of children to develop mathematical and problem solving skills.
Don’t be thinking I am a mathematical genius, I was provided with the shape patterns so I knew the exact shape and dimensions of the pieces I needed to make, I just needed to make them. We agreed during the consultation that the fabric needed to be able to be wiped clean and to be quite durable, they were going to get a lot of use and needed to withstand it.
We chose different coloured vinyl and I have to say, I had a lot of fun creating some very strange shapes. My family wondered what I was doing until the finished piece was shown to them. I have to confess, they enjoyed having a go at the puzzle before it went off to its new owner, who loved it.
